Microneedling
Microneedling (AKA collagen induction therapy) utilises microscopic needles to help boost collagen production and growth factors in your skin through controlled injury. This will improve the appearance, texture, and overall quality of your skin, as well as improve scalp health to stimulate hair growth. The use of microneedling with specialised mesoserums make it possible to address a wide range of skin concerns such as hyperpigmentation, dehydration, stretch marks, scars, rosacea, pores, hair loss, and many more. Through vertical penetration of multiple sterile needles, tiny channels are created through the dermis to effectively infuse medical-grade active ingredients in your skin whilst synthesising collagen and elastin. Your treatment mesoserum is completely customised to treat your goals, whether it be anti-aging, brightening, hydration, or problematic skin.

After a thorough consultation, the treatment starts off with a double cleanse to reduce risk of infection with the procedure. Numbing cream can be applied for 30min before the procedure to reduce discomfort (please note, numbing cream is to be supplied by the patient due to regulations). The needling process is performed, and add-on serums post-needling is applied depending on your concern (this step is optional). Post-care instructions are then advised before patient leaves the clinic (please refer to 'Post-Care Instructions' below).
Add-on serums include NCTF, exosomes, or growth factors. This is customised depending on skin concern and condition.
Swelling, itchiness, and tenderness is expected, especially in the first 2-3 days of treatment. Your skin might feel tight and start flaking from day 3-5. There is a small chance of bruising with this treatment, and cold sores may occur if you are prone. Pigmentation can temporarily look darker than usual before lightening and flaking off your skin.
Although rare, some complications include infection, scarring, systemic hypersensitivity, allergic granuloma formation, milia, and acne.
For optimal results, 3-6 sessions 4-6 weeks apart is recommended. Best results are seen at around 3 months post-treatment, with ongoing skin remodeling continuing up to 6 months.
Maintenance sessions are recommended to maintain your results, which will be customised and discussed throughout your treatment plan as individual results vary. Skin tightening, and improved texture and pigmentation have been reported after the first treatment. This treatment is recommended in conjunction with medical-grade skincare to increase and maintain results in between your sessions, as well as after your treatment plan.
As these treatments target the deeper layers of your skin for cell renewal, you may have to prep your skin with specific products to reduce your chances of complications. At Lady Grace Aesthetics, we are trained in assessing your skin and in devising a treatment plan specially made for you. We will assess your skin and your concerns to recommend you the most effective and safe way to achieve your results.
BEFORE your treatments, it is recommended that you:
Apply the recommended peel booster every night 15 days prior to your appointment to accelerate your results, and stop applying 2 days before your appointment
Avoid prolonged sun exposure for at least 2 weeks before your treatment as this can increase your chances of hyperpigmentation
Stop using any physical scrubs and actives such as Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and acids (except for hyaluronic acid) for at least 1 week before procedure
Advise us if you have had any procedures in the last 1-4 weeks as this can affect your treatment results (please avoid anti-wrinkle injections 1 week before your treatment, and 2 weeks for waxing, laser hair removal, IPL, electrolysis, depilation creams, and microdermabrasion)
Advise us of your allergies, medications, and medical health history ton prevent complications
Avoid alcohol, intense exercises and heat-inducing procedures for at least 48 hours as this can induce more inflammation / hyperpigmentation
If you are prone to cold sores, please take your anti-viral medications before and after your treatment to reduce the chance of cold sores occurring
Continue using your SPF 50+ everyday, gentle cleanser, and moisturiser
If you have any current infections, skin irritation, rashes, and open wounds on your treatment area, please advise us as soon as possible to reschedule your appointment
AFTER your treatment:
To reduce any risks and complications, it is very important that you follow post-care instructions. Your skin is renewed and sensitive during the first 3-5 days depending on your treatment, and needs to be cared for carefully to reduce complications such as hyperpigmentation, scars, and irritation. Following your after-care instructions carefully helps avoid these risks.
You can expect:
Mild sensitivity the first 3-5 days after your treatment
Mild redness looking like a mild sunburn for a few days
Your skin may start to flake after a few days and can last up to 1 week (this is a GREAT thing as your skin cells are working hard to turnover to reveal new, GLOWING skin)
Your skin may feel slightly tight after a few days while it is flaking
Depending on your skin type and heritage, you may experience short-term post-inflammatory pigmentation (PIHP). Fitz 4 (eg: south east Asians) may experience mild hyperpigmentation even if aftercare is carried out carefully. This is because of the higher melanin content in their skin compared to Fitz 1-3, and when their skin heals, more melanin is rushed to the treatment area to protect itself from the harmful UV rays, thus, higher chance of PIHP. However, note that the PIHP is not permanent (unless you continuously expose yourself to UV rays, heat, or any other factor that contributes to PIHP, or not following aftercare properly), and if cared for, it may only last a few months. Post- care is extremely important in reducing the chances of adverse reactions, as well as using our recommended prep products to prepare your skin for the treatment.
DO NOT:
Use any other products (including cleanser) within the first 24hrs after your procedure other than the products recommended below in ‘What to DO’
Pick or peel at your flaking skin as this can cause scarring or hyperpigmentation. Your skin must flake off naturally. Please use a scrub 5-7 days after your treatment to gently exfoliate your skin
Expose your skin to direct or prolonged sun exposure
Wear make-up for at least 12 hours
Be in contact with animals/pets near treatment area, or on your hands for 4 hrs
Drink alcohol, or do any intense exercises or heat-inducing activities for at least 48 hours
Use any actives on your skin such as Vitamin A, Vitamin C, or acids (except for hyaluronic acid) for at least 5-7 days after your appointment
Do any strenuous exercise and sweating 72hrs post-procedure as this can irritate skin
What to DO:
Use the Energising Cleanser and moisturiser for the first 5 days to avoid skin sensitivity (we will recommend customised products for you during your appointment)
Use the Total Recovery Gel/Cream (up to 3 times a day) and After Cream (3hrs post- treatment, up to 3 times a day) to soothe and calm your skin
Use the Sensitive Ampoule (3hrs post treatment)
After 24hrs, use SPF 50+ and ensure reapplying every 3-4 hours to protect your skin
Monitor your treatment area for any signs of infection (please seek medical advice from GP if you suspect an infection – pus, redness, fever, heat, etc)
Strict sun avoidance on the day of procedure as no SPF will be applied (SPF can be used after 24hrs, continue to minimise sun exposure for at least 2 weeks post-procedure)
Ensure sheets and pillowcases are clean, especially the first night
