sqt bio-microneedling
SQT Bio-Microneedling is an innovative treatment praised for its ability to deliver significant skin rejuvenation with minimal invasiveness. This treatment incorporates microscopic Spongilla spicules derived from freshwater sponges to penetrate the skin and speed up cellular turnover. What sets SQT apart is its dual action: the mechanical exfoliation provided by the spicules and the infusion of bioactive serums tailored to target specific skin concerns. These serums contain powerful ingredients like peptides, fibronectin, beta-glucan, hyaluronic acid, and vitamins, which are delivered deep into the skin for maximum efficacy.
SQT Bio-Microneedling is effective for addressing issues such as fine lines, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, enlarged pores, and overall skin dullness. It promotes smoother, firmer, and more radiant skin while being gentler than traditional methods, with less downtime and reduced risk of irritation.

SQT bio-microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that stimulates the body’s natural healing processes to encourage collagen production, improve skin texture, and target a variety of skin concerns such as acne, pigmentation, fine lines, and scarring. This advanced treatment uses tiny biological ‘needles’ called spongilla spicules to create micro-injuries in the skin. Spongilla spicules are derived from freshwater sponges that thrive in clean waters with low levels of pollutants. Micro-particles from the sponge are embedded into the dermis layer during treatment, removing dead skin cells and waste from the top layer of the skin, stimulating micro-cell circulation and the cell regeneration cycle. This helps stimulate new skin cells, reducing the skin renewal cycle from 28 days to just 7 days. Your skin is being stimulated for 72hrs after treatment, peeling off the waste products whilst giving nutrients to your skin. This process also helps rebuild he epidermis (top layer of the skin), resulting in stronger, healthier skin with less pigmentation and surface irregularities.
There are no needles involved with bio-microneedling unlike traditional microneedling, meaning there is less risk of infection and less pain. 1 session of bio-microneedling is equivalent to 3-5 sessions of traditional microneedling as the procedures creates 3-5 million micro-channels, compared to up to 1.5 million micro-channels with traditional needling. With such an impressive amount of micro-channels created, this treatment helps products absorb more effectively by 3000% compared to that of traditional needling, at 300-500%.
A minimum of 3 treatments are recommended for best results, with maintenance every 6-10 weeks once treatment goals have been achieved. Up to 6-8 sessions may be required for an acute skin condition (such as scarring or melasma). For best results, it is ideal to have the first 3 treatments every 2-3 weeks apart.

Your skin will feel prickly for up to 2-3 days, and redness may last for up to 1-2 days (individual results vary). Your skin may or may not peel with this treatment (please note lack of peeling does NOT mean the treatment has not worked as your skin is still absorbing the nutrients and responding as intended). If your skin does peel, this happens around day 4-7. Your skin may feel dry for up to 2 weeks while your skin is renewing itself. Purging around day 3 can also happen as your acne and closed comedones may be discharged onto your skin surface (this is normal and can be expected, and will resolve on its own).
Side effects include temporary redness which resolves after 1-2 days, and itchiness during the flaking stage. Occasionally, swelling can occur and can last up to 5-7 days though this is extremely rare. If aftercare is not adhered to, potential scarring can occur as well as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
To reduce any risks and complications, it is very important that you follow post-care instructions. Your skin is renewed and sensitive during the first 3-5 days depending on your treatment, and needs to be cared for carefully to reduce complications such as hyperpigmentation, scars, and irritation. Following your after-care instructions carefully helps avoid these risks.
DO NOT:
Expose your skin to direct sun. As your skin is renewing itself at a rapid rate, it is more vulnerable to the sun, so strict sun avoidance is advised for 1-2 weeks
No moisturiser for 7 days
Pick or peel at your flaking skin to reduce scarring
Wear make-up for at least 12 hours
Be in contact with animals/pets near treatment area, or on your hands for 4 hrs
Drink alcohol, or do any intense exercises or heat-inducing activities (eg: steam, sauna) for at least 48 hours
Use any actives on your skin such as Vitamin A, Vitamin C, or acids (except for hyaluronic acid) for at least 7 days after your appointment
Do any strenuous exercise and sweating 72hrs post-procedure as this can irritate skin
Day of treatment (day 0):
Do not touch or wash your face
Drink plenty of water
Strict sun avoidance
Day 1-2:
Splash cool water when washing face
Use the aftercare serum or recommended products
Gently pat aftercare serum into skin
Day 3-7:
Use a gentle cleanser
Avoid products with alcohol, soap, exfoliants, scrubs, acids, perfume, or fragrances
