Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
Alocuro Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is a bio-regenerative treatment that helps to increase collagen and elastin production in the skin. This can reduce the appearance of fine lines, striae (stretch marks), and scars, as well as improve hair loss, skin turgor, and epidermal thickness.
Due to regulatory restrictions, we are unable to show prices or provide advice without an in-person consultation. Please book in an in-person consultation for a thorough assessment to ensure safety and transparency with our treatments. All non-surgical cosmetic treatments are performed by Grace Chau (Registered Nurse).

• Hair regeneration / alopecia areata
• Wrinkle reduction
• Subdermally with collagen induction therapy/microneedling
• Combination with PDO Threads
PRP can reduce wrinkles and stimulate hair growth by biological stimulation of the cells within the skin and hair follicles so that healthy, new tissue is produced. When PRP is injected into targeted areas, it activates dermal fibroblasts, the cells within the skin’s dermis that have an essential role in maintaining skin integrity. Due to the PRP, the dermal fibroblasts replicate at a higher rate to produce more collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, resulting in an improvement in skin quality.
As PRP are injections in your skin, swelling, tenderness, and possible bruising can be expected, which will resolve in 7-10 days. There is a low risk of allergic reaction as it is utilising your own bodily substance, as well as a risk of infection.
Immediately after the procedure, wrinkles will appear minimised before returning back to its original state after 4-5 days. However, the PRP will be taking effect under the skin to make new cells with results being observed approximately 6 weeks after the procedure.
3 sessions in 4-6 weekly intervals is recommended. PRP results usually last up to 12-18 months, though individual results vary. As skin quality and texture decreases gradually overtime, regular PRP treatments are recommended (approximately a treatment every 6-12 months depending on age and concern) to maintain your results.
A research study done by Dr Redaelli, and colleagues published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, showed that Platelet-Rich Plasma treatment improved skin wrinkles, texture, elasticity, volume and skin tone. Patients reported an 82% improvement in skin tone, 52% improvement in wrinkle appearance, 87% improvement in general appearance, and 100% satisfaction with the treatment outcomes.
BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT
To maximise results, we strongly recommend the following guidelines:
Maintain healthy diet rich of: healthy fats (avocado, olive oil), leafy greens (kale, spinach), vitamin C (oranges, citrus fruits), folates (kidney beans, lentils, etc), iron-rich foods (beef, pumpkin seeds, guava), vitamin B12 (eggs, beef, seafood)
2 weeks before the procedure:
Cease oral corticosteroids (eg prednisone) for 2 weeks prior to the procedure if safe to do so (please consult with your specialist)
1 week before the procedure:
· Do not take any blood thinning medications such as Aspirin or medications containing Aspirin for 5 days prior to the procedure (please consult with your GP/Specialist before your procedure)
· Supplements that are known to increase bruising should also be ceased – Garlic, Ginko, Ginseng, Green Tea, Vitamin E, Multi-vitamins, Omega 3,6 and fish oils.
2 days prior to the procedure:
· Discontinue any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications such as Nurofen, Ibuprofen, Voltaren, Celebrex, Mobic, or any other prescribed anti-inflammatory medications, for 2 days prior until 10 days after the PRP therapy.
· Minimal alcohol, caffeine, fatty foods, and ideally have a healthy diet to maximise platelet collection potential
· Drink at least 1 litre of water each day for adequate hydration (more in warm weather)
· Sufficient sleep as it may assist a higher platelet yield
Day of procedure
· Wash your hair and do not apply any hair products (if treating for hair restoration)
· Drink at least one litre of water, and minimal exercise to assist the blood collection
· As it is not recommended to take any anti-inflammatories for ten days after the procedure, it is suggested to have some Panadol / Panadeine available in case you need some mild pain relief.
POST-CARE INSTRUCTIONS
To maximise results of PRP therapy, we strongly recommend the following guidelines:
• Avoid washing your face with cleansers or applying liquid make-up for at least 12 hours post-procedure. If you need to wash your face, please do so only after 4 hours with warm water (no soap)
• If you require pain relief, please use Panadol or Panadeine only (dose as usual for you)
• Please do not use any anti-inflammatory medication (eg: Nurofen) or topical gel (eg: Voltaren) or oral steroids (eg: Prednisone) for 7 days post procedure.
• For patients who regularly take aspirin, you may resume 48 hours after the procedure, unless otherwise directed by the attending Doctor for your procedure or your GP/Specialist.
• Minimal alcohol, coffee, caffeine; and nil supplements that may increase bruising for 2 days post procedure.
• Nil exercise with excessive facial perspiration for 24 hours.
• Very rarely, patients can have a significant response to the injected PRP, and local swelling in the under eye injection area can occur. This is due to the body initiating an amplified regenerative process in the area and will usually be evident at the time of the procedure. The treating practitioner will assess, and if necessary, apply ice for a short period. If progressive swelling occurs after you leave the clinic, apply ice wrapped in a cloth to the area for 5-10minutes up to 3 times/day and sleep at an incline to help reduce the under eye swelling.
